Sort and select data in IVE

Adding filters to visualizations helps you narrow your focus on certain aspects of your data. However, there are other ways in which you can use to explore data, such as drilling, sorting, and selecting. When you use these actions, filters are automatically applied.

Sorting data

To sort data, select a visualization and select the menu. Alternately, you can right-click the visualization, and select one of the following actions:

  • Sort to sort attributes in a visualization, such as department names from A to Z.
  • Drill to drill to a data element and drill through hierarchies in data elements, such as drilling to weeks within a quarter.
  • Drill to <Attribute Name> to drill directly to a specific attribute within a visualization.

Selecting data

To perform an action on data within a visualization, select an item and make a selection from the menu. Alternately, you can right-click and select one of the following:

  • Keep Selected to keep only the selected item and remove all others form the visualization and its linked visualizations on the canvas. For example, you might only want to keep the sales generated by a specific sales associate.
  • Remove Selected to remove selected items from the visualization and its linked visualizations on the canvas. For example, you might want to remove the Eastern and Western regions from the selection.
